AutoDST Link for Mac and Windows, the AutoDST app for iPad, and the autodst.com website. Last updated October 13, 2026.
AutoDST Link sends embroidery designs to your S1501-type embroidery machine and saves designs from it. It is free and made by Lance McGrew dba Designagrave. The AutoDST app for iPad is the same app for iPad.
What the app collects: nothing
There are no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
What stays on your device
The list of your machines (their network addresses and any names you give them), previews of the designs on your machine, and a log file for troubleshooting. These are stored only on your device. The log is never sent anywhere unless you choose to email it to us.
Who the app talks to
Only these:
- Your embroidery machine, on your own local network, to list, read and send designs.
- autodst.com, once each time AutoDST Link opens on a Mac or Windows PC, to ask which version of the app is current (so it can tell you when an update is available). The iPad app doesn't do this; the App Store updates it. Nothing about you, your device or your machine is sent.
- autodst.com, when you use “Send to Machine” on the autodst.com website: the app downloads that one design from autodst.com. Like any website, autodst.com sees your internet address for that download; it keeps a scrambled (non-reversible) form of it for up to 7 days to enforce its download limits, and nothing else.
- Google Drive, only when you click Download on an update in AutoDST Link for Mac or Windows: the new version is stored on Google Drive and downloaded from there, the same file the autodst.com download links point to. Like any download, Google sees your internet address. Nothing else is sent.
Local network access
The app asks for permission to use your local network because that is how it reaches your embroidery machine. It does not look at or collect anything else on your network.
The autodst.com website
- The SVG you upload is deleted as soon as it has been converted. The finished design file is kept on the server for up to 1 hour so you can download it, then deleted.
- To enforce the usage limits, the site keeps a scrambled (non-reversible) form of your internet address for up to 7 days.
- Your settings and your “My threads” list are saved only in your own browser.
- If you send feedback, we keep your message, the email address you give (if any) and, if you choose to include it, your design and settings, so we can answer and fix problems. It is emailed to us and not shared with anyone.
- No cookies, no advertising, no analytics, and nothing loaded from other companies’ servers. Like any web host, the server keeps standard access logs.
Children
The app and the website are not directed at children, and the app collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date.
